Denali Highway / Alaska Range

Denali, Before the Weather

A northern road study through wide valleys, low cloud, and the soft blue edge of the Alaska Range.

Denali Highway / Alaska Range

Late summer

The road as a weather instrument

This route was photographed as a sequence of thresholds: asphalt to gravel, spruce to tundra, clear horizon to cloud. The camera stayed low and patient, letting the landscape decide when it wanted to open.

The resulting images hold the quiet scale of the Alaska Range without turning it into spectacle — a record of distance, weather, and the small human marks that pass through both.
